The Committee
From a small group of concerned citizens to a volunteer movement: this is how we have worked for El Salvador since 1995.
Over the years, a group of roughly 60 people helped their home community by sending money to repair its roads. That group decided it was important to formalize, and so in 1995 the Salvadoran Committee El Piche was founded as a nonprofit organization.
Today, through the tireless effort of its members, volunteers and friends, the Committee is one of the most respected nonprofits in the Los Angeles area — and one of the few where every member is a volunteer.
The board counts on members of different nationalities, working together to improve communities and help those most in need regardless of religious belief, nationality or political preference.
To support the community and develop its capacities. Our work focuses on key areas: education, well-being, health, cultural events, infrastructure, crisis response and local economic development.
To help and bring hope to the people of El Salvador, who endured a civil war and numerous natural disasters.

Our president
Enot Rubio emigrated from the El Piche canton to Los Angeles as a teenager and founded the committee in 1995 alongside some 60 fellow villagers. The Government of El Salvador decorated him with the Order of "José Simeón Cañas" in the rank of Knight for his humanitarian work.
Every position is volunteer and uncompensated (Form 990, fiscal year 2024).
