From a small group of concerned citizens to a national volunteer movement, El Cómite Salvadoreño El Piche was founded in 1995.

Over the years, a group of approximately 60 people helped the community by sending money for street repairs. This group decided that it was important to form as an organization and so a meeting was called to discuss the possibility of creating a non-profit organization.

Currently the board has the support of members of different nationalities, who claim to have sufficient reason to work together for the betterment of different communities and help those most in need regardless of religious belief, nationality or political preference.

Comité Salvadoreño El Piche is dedicated to supporting the community and developing its capacities. The Committee’s work focuses on key areas such as education, welfare, health, cultural events, infrastructure, crisis response, and local economic development.

To help and give hope to the people of El Salvador, who in the last 20 years suffered a civil war, as well as many natural disasters.

Today, with the tireless efforts of its members, volunteers and friends, El Piche is one of the most respected nonprofit organizations in the Los Angeles area. El Comité Salvadoreño El Piche is proud to be one of the few organizations where every member is a volunteer.
